Bug#976176: linux-image-4.19.0-11-amd64: ALSA regression: no sound from ALC295 headphone jack starting in 4.19.0-11

Package: src:linux
Version: 4.19.146-1
Severity: important

On an ASUS GL703GM-NS73 laptop, which reports using a Realtek ALC295, there is
no sound from the headphone jack beginning with 4.19.0-11. I have replicated
the problem using Debian Live distributions to remove any variables that may
be specific to my personal installation.

Debian Live 10.4 KDE (kernel 4.19.0-9-amd64) and Debian Live 10.5 KDE
(kernel 4.19-0-10-amd64) both function as expected; sound is present from
the external speakers connected to the headphone jack from boot time,
unplugging from the headphone jack results in sound correctly switching
to the laptop's internal speakers, and replugging into the headphone
jack results in sound correctly switching back to the external speakers.

Debian Live 10.6 KDE and GNOME (both kernel 4.19.0-11-amd64) result in
no sound from the external speakers connected to the headphone jack from
boot time. The audio devices appear as expected in 'pavucontrol' and
'alsa-mixer'. Unplugging from the headphone jack results in sound
correctly switching to the laptop's internal speakers; the sound works
as expected. Replugging the external speakers back into the headphone
jack once again results in no sound.

I will attach the output of 'alsa-info' from the above Debian Live distros
in a follow-up. The below information is from Debian Live 10.6 KDE,
where I am running 'reportbug'.

As an aside I can confirm that this problem persists in 4.19.0-12 on my
(non-Live) installation, but I am only submitting information from Debian
Live distros 4.19.0-9 through -11.

There may be relevant information in this Manjaro thread, although it is
referring to newer kernels:
