Resume from sleep/hibernation did not work for me with 5.4 kernels, it used to work with 5.3, which is no longer available, additionally, now the problem seemingly even was backported to linux-image-4.19.0-8-amd64:

On my notebook HP elitebook 8440p with intel-graphics I get a black screen when trying to resume and open the lid of the notebook and press the power button, so there is nothing I can do then, but turn power off the hard way (press for 4 secs.) and reboot. I have no idea whether you did this deliberately, but probably you should not port back problems from testing-kernel to the stable branch.
