Bug#925322: linux-image-4.9.0-8-686-pae: Laptop hangs after putting external display to sleep
Package: src:linux
Version: 4.9.144-3.1
Severity: important
Dear Maintainer,
On a Lenovo Thinkpad X200 with an external display connected via a docking station, the system hangs just after putting the external display to sleep, e.g. when I run xset s activate. It still responds to ping, but no longer accepts ssh connections, and the caps lock key no longer toggles the caps lock light on the keyboard.
The bug appeared when I upgraded from Jessie to Stretch. Kernel linux-image-4.19.0-0.bpo.2-686-pae from stretch-backports does not exhibit the bug. Upstream kernel 4.14 does exhibit the bug, and 4.15 does not. Git bisect identified eb64343ca6dd03241579400e037f0e15e6831b0c as the commit where the bug went away.
