Bug#914491: linux-image-4.18.0-3-amd64: Please revert the STIBP patch from 4.18.20

Package: linux-image-4.18.0-3-amd64
Version: 4.18.20-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

The recently uploaded 4.18.20 kernel package has the STIBP patch in it
that has been reverted from the 4.9.140, 4.14.83, and 4.19.4 kernels upstream.
There will never been an official revert for 4.18 because its now EOL. I
was wondering if you could revert it in the Debian kernel package.
If 4.19.4+ is about to be uploaded anyway then there is probably no
reason to re-upload another 4.18.20 package with this commit removed.

The patch in question is named "x86/speculation: Enable
cross-hyperthread spectre v2 STIBP mitigation" and was added in 4.18.19.

$ uname -a
Linux doge 4.18.0-3-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.18.20-1 (2018-11-21) x86_64 GNU/Linux
$ sudo dmesg | grep STIBP
[    0.132001] Spectre V2 : Spectre v2 cross-process SMT mitigation: Enabling STIBP
$ cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/vulnerabilities/spectre_v2
Mitigation: Full generic retpoline, IBPB, IBRS_FW, STIBP
                                                   ^^^^^
