Unfortunately I have very limited Internet bandwidth in these days and the only i386 box available (the Soekris net5501 itself) has too limited hardware resources to conveniently rebuild a patched Linux kernel... I am afraid I'll have to wait for the patched kernel image to enter Debian unstable, in order to check whether the patch actually fixes the issue. Sorry about that.
