I second this wish, and would further ask to enable CONFIG_SQUASHFS_FILE_DIRECT, as this will improve performance. The "downside" would be that with a bottleneck removed, more IO can then mean more CPU Resources are used by the kernel (though I don't see that a downside, just means some threads using IO are finished earlier, performance still is up). see https://lkml.org/lkml/2017/9/22/814
