Bug#884116: [src:linux] Screan artefacts then systematic crash

Package: src:linux
Version: 4.9.65-3+deb9u2
Control: -1 serious

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

I initially reported this in #884001 but it looks like this bug is more close to
what I see. I'm using Debian stable with security upgrades and got this issue
after upgrading from 4.9.51-1 to 4.9.65-3+deb9u1 and then to 4.9.65-3+deb9u2.

The graphical flickering is bothering but I can live with it, but the frequent
crashes are making system not usable at all and may justify the serious
severity. I simply can not use my system with this bug. Only removing those two
versions and reinstalling 4.9.51-1 fixes the issue. Or this takes half a day
every time. I finished by having a private repository and using the attached
script. The issue is that these updates get installed automatically and that
each reboot becomes a nightmare.

I've tried to understand the issue and it seems related to using gnome-terminal,
at least in my case. If I don't use gnome terminal, the flickering happen but
not the crash. However the very same version of gnome-terminal with old kernel
works just fine. The issue mainly appears with double TAB pressing for auto-
completion.

Attached is /var/log/messages and the crash happened at 11:11:25
