A similar result with a Labtec DC-505. 
When connected by the USB cable, the camera emits a brief tone 
and the LCD displays "PC".  

peter@dalton:~$ lsusb | grep Labtec

peter@dalton:~$ ls /dev/vid*
ls: cannot access '/dev/vid*': No such file or directory

Is any USB camera working in Debian 9?
