Bug#872641: firmware-misc-nonfree: Missing nvidia firmware for GeForce GTX 1050i (gp107)

Package: firmware-misc-nonfree
Version: 20161130-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Booting the system after upgrading to kernel 4.12. A review of the system logs
reports loading errors.

$ journalctl --system

(...)

kernel: pci 0000:01:00.0: optimus capabilities: enabled, status dynamic power,
hda bios codec supported
kernel: VGA switcheroo: detected Optimus DSM method \_SB_.PCI0.PEG0.PEGP handle
kernel: nouveau: detected PR support, will not use DSM
kernel: nouveau 0000:01:00.0: NVIDIA GP107 (137000a1)

(...)

kernel: nouveau 0000:01:00.0: bios: version 86.07.2b.00.15
kernel: nouveau 0000:01:00.0: firmware: failed to load
nvidia/gp107/gr/sw_nonctx.bin (-2)
kernel: nouveau 0000:01:00.0: Direct firmware load for
nvidia/gp107/gr/sw_nonctx.bin failed with error -2
kernel: nouveau 0000:01:00.0: gr: failed to load gr/sw_nonctx
kernel: nouveau 0000:01:00.0: gr ctor failed, -2
kernel: nouveau: probe of 0000:01:00.0 failed with error -2

(...)

Leaving apart that the "noveau" driver cannot interact with the discrete Nvidia
card nothing else seems to be working well, so only reporting.

I guess it will be solved adding the firmware when available.

Regards,

robert
