Package: nfs-common
Version: 1:1.1.3-1
Severity: important

After upgrading from nfs-common 1:1.1.2-6 to 1:1.1.3-1, some nfs-mounted
filesystems became almost unusable.

The basic symptom was that it acted as if I was a different user: I
could not access my files unless they were world-readable.

So for instance, if I have a file ".env.tamagawa" in my home dir:

   $ ls -l ~/.env.tamagawa
   -rw-rw---- 1 miles 5523 2008-05-26 11:21 /home/soft1/miles/.env.tamagawa

I'd get permission denied errors:

   $ cat ~/.env.tamagawa
   cat: /home/soft1/miles/.env.tamagawa: Permission denied

even though I am the file owner:

   $ id
   uid=31295(miles) gid=10273(cmp) groups=20(dialout),24(cdrom),29(audio),46(plugdev),112(fuse),126(vboxusers),10105(ul-tool),10125(ul-soft),10273(cmp),10512(lang),10514(prof),10570(sapphire),31295(miles)

I could also not chmod the file, getting permission denied errors.

Downgrading back to nfs-common 1:1.1.2-6, and remounting the
filesystem solved the problems.

I'm not exactly sure what info you need, but it's a sun NFS server,
using the following mount options:

   HOST:FS on /home/soft1 type nfs (rw,noatime,nfsvers=3,tcp,rsize=4096,wsize=4096,intr,addr=10.30.129.164)

Thanks,

-Miles
