Bug#867044: linux-image-4.9.0-3-amd64: ipmi_si fails to detect bmc

Dear Maintainer,

ipmi used to work fine on our machines (apple xserve 3,1) with debian 7, but I recently found out that it's no longer the case with debian 8 (fresh install), nor debian 9 (fresh install). So, it seems that there is a regression somewhere...

I know that I'm running linux on an exotic hardware and that I wouldn't have reported a bug if I didn't have ipmi working
previously on the same hardware...

here are the symptoms :

The symptoms are the same on a debian 8. However, on debian 7 (on another machine with the same hardware), the logs show that i

I might be wrong but could it be related to the ACPI conflicts that appear in debian 8 and 9 but not in debian 7 ? :

note 2 : the kernel is tainted 2048 in debian 8 or 9, but 0 in debian 7
