These machines have very different hardware, and are running running very different networking configurations - but both are from the same image so only configuration files are different. Another way of saying the same thing is all non- conf files installed by debian are identical. Unfortunately while the software may be the same and the ipsec configuration is almost identical (only my endpoint differs) the rest of the networking configuration is very different. One is a AMD A10, talking to the internet over a single NIC using ADSL (pppoe). The one that doesn't work is a Dell dual Xeon, with a direct connection to the internet over two bridged 10G NIC's with 3 different gateways. I get about 1 hour to a day to experiment with the machine that doesn't work, and I don't have a clue where to start looking.
