Thanks for this feedback. If the backport kernel continues working
for me I'm not going to have time to test this in the near future as
there are a lot of other things that don't have such a workaround and
need more urgent attention.
If anybody else comes across this bug and really wants to stay on the
stable kernel then I would encourage you to test this and give feedback.
