Package: src:linux Version: 4.8.5-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, When resuming from hibernation my T60 hangs after the grub boot screen. There is only a flashing cursor in the top left corner. I use the Fn-F12 keyboard combination to hibernate my machine and the power-on button to resume. Passing the boot parameter earlyprintk=vga gives the final message, "Suspending console(s) (use no_console_suspend to debug)". A photo of the final screen of messages is attached. Unexpectedly, passing both boot parameters: "earlyprintk=vga" and "no_console_suspend" provides a workaround for my problem! I was only expecting to get debugging information when I passed the second boot parameter and I was surprised when the machine resumed successfully. I have not tried to find any new information that passing no_console_suspend may have generated. I note that both parameters need to be there for a successful resume. Leaving the default parameter, "quiet" and issuing only the "no_console_suspend" parameter does not work. "quiet" needs to be changed to earlyprintk=vga as well. The last kernel I know of that works for resuming from hibernation is 4.6.0-1-686-pae. The first kernel I know of where resuming fails is 4.7.0-1-686-pae. Greetings, Tony -- Package-specific info: ** Version: Linux version 4.8.0-1-686-pae (debian-kernel@lists.debian.org) (gcc version 5.4.1 20161019 (Debian 5.4.1-3) ) #1 SMP Debian 4.8.5-1 (2016-10-28) ** Command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.8.0-1-686-pae root=UUID=2c96ab98-a825-4057-a6e7-efbcfc80ba64 ro initrd=/install/initrd.gz quiet ** Tainted: POE (12289) * Proprietary module has been loaded. * Out-of-tree module has been loaded. * Unsigned module has been loaded. ** Kernel log: [ 18.973903] nsc-ircc 00:05: [irq 3] [ 18.973906] nsc-ircc 00:05: [dma 1] [ 18.974396] nsc-ircc 00:05: activated [ 18.974440] nsc-ircc, chip->init [ 18.974454] nsc-ircc, Found chip at base=0x164e [ 18.974495] nsc-ircc, driver loaded (Dag Brattli) [ 18.974802] IrDA: Registered device irda0 [ 18.974804] nsc-ircc, Using dongle: IBM31T1100 or Temic TFDS6000/TFDS6500 [ 19.031163] i801_smbus 0000:00:1f.3: SMBus using PCI interrupt [ 19.118932] pci 0000:00:1e.0: enabling device (0005 -> 0007) [ 19.119047] yenta_cardbus 0000:15:00.0: CardBus bridge found [17aa:2012] [ 19.119073] yenta_cardbus 0000:15:00.0: Using INTVAL to route CSC interrupts to PCI [ 19.119075] yenta_cardbus 0000:15:00.0: Routing CardBus interrupts to PCI [ 19.119081] yenta_cardbus 0000:15:00.0: TI: mfunc 0x01d01002, devctl 0x64 [ 19.167319] ACPI Warning: SystemIO range 0x0000000000001028-0x000000000000102F conflicts with OpRegion 0x0000000000001000-0x000000000000107F (\_SB.PCI0.LPC.PMIO) (20160422/utaddress-255) [ 19.167329] ACPI: If an ACPI driver is available for this device, you should use it instead of the native driver [ 19.167332] ACPI Warning: SystemIO range 0x00000000000011B0-0x00000000000011BF conflicts with OpRegion 0x0000000000001180-0x00000000000011BF (\_SB.PCI0.LPC.LPIO) (20160422/utaddress-255) [ 19.167338] ACPI: If an ACPI driver is available for this device, you should use it instead of the native driver [ 19.167339] ACPI Warning: SystemIO range 0x0000000000001180-0x00000000000011AF conflicts with OpRegion 0x0000000000001180-0x00000000000011BF (\_SB.PCI0.LPC.LPIO) (20160422/utaddress-255) [ 19.167344] ACPI: If an ACPI driver is available for this device, you should use it instead of the native driver [ 19.167345] lpc_ich: Resource conflict(s) found affecting gpio_ich [ 19.211042] snd_hda_codec_analog hdaudioC0D0: autoconfig for AD1981: line_outs=1 (0x5/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0) type:speaker [ 19.211047] snd_hda_codec_analog hdaudioC0D0: speaker_outs=0 (0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0) [ 19.211049] snd_hda_codec_analog hdaudioC0D0: hp_outs=0 (0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0/0x0) [ 19.211051] snd_hda_codec_analog hdaudioC0D0: mono: mono_out=0x0 [ 19.211053] snd_hda_codec_analog hdaudioC0D0: dig-out=0xa/0x0 [ 19.211055] snd_hda_codec_analog hdaudioC0D0: inputs: [ 19.211058] snd_hda_codec_analog hdaudioC0D0: Mic=0x8 [ 19.211060] snd_hda_codec_analog hdaudioC0D0: CD=0x19 [ 19.216822] input: HDA Digital PCBeep as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1b.0/sound/card0/input9 [ 19.304539] sd 0:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg0 type 0 [ 19.304619] sr 1:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg1 type 5 [ 19.364800] yenta_cardbus 0000:15:00.0: ISA IRQ mask 0x0cb0, PCI irq 16 [ 19.364807] yenta_cardbus 0000:15:00.0: Socket status: 30000007 [ 19.364816] yenta_cardbus 0000:15:00.0: pcmcia: parent PCI bridge window: [io 0xa000-0xdfff] [ 19.364820] pcmcia_socket pcmcia_socket0: cs: IO port probe 0xa000-0xdfff: [ 19.366540] excluding 0xa000-0xa0ff 0xa400-0xa4ff [ 19.394517] yenta_cardbus 0000:15:00.0: pcmcia: parent PCI bridge window: [mem 0xe4300000-0xe7ffffff] [ 19.394521] pcmcia_socket pcmcia_socket0: cs: memory probe 0xe4300000-0xe7ffffff: [ 19.394524] excluding 0xe4300000-0xe46cffff [ 19.394537] yenta_cardbus 0000:15:00.0: pcmcia: parent PCI bridge window: [mem 0xe0000000-0xe3ffffff 64bit pref] [ 19.394540] pcmcia_socket pcmcia_socket0: cs: memory probe 0xe0000000-0xe3ffffff: [ 19.394548] excluding 0xe0000000-0xe3ffffff [ 19.454956] iwl3945: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 3945ABG/BG Network Connection driver for Linux, in-tree:s [ 19.454959] iwl3945: Copyright(c) 2003-2011 Intel Corporation [ 19.455034] iwl3945 0000:03:00.0: can't disable ASPM; - Subject: submitter is closing this bug due to kernel taint
- From: Tony Rowe <ay986@chebucto.ns.ca>
- Date: Tue, 13 Dec 2016 09:53:12 -0400
- Message-id: <20161213135312.emfettdygnoknqd3@localhost.localdomain>
Version: Linux version 4.8.0-1-686-pae (gcc version 5.4.1 20161019 (Debian 5.4.1-3) ) #1 SMP Debian 4.8.5-1 (2016-10-28) I am the bug submitter and I am closing it because my kernel was tainted at the time of reporting the bug. I will blacklist the offending wl module and retest with linux-image-4.9.*-686-pae when it becomes available in sid and then open a new bug if I am still having problems. Tony Rowe
