Looking at the symbols that are complained about, they all appear to be
for functions implemented in assembly.

There is some new cleverness in 4.9 to allow EXPORT_SYMBOL in asm,
with the symbol version *somehow* generated separately, but obviously 
it failed here.  Can you investigate further?
