It will be the next kernel version that has upstream long-term support
(or 4.10 at the latest).  This is planned to be 4.9, although I think
that hasn't been finalised yet.

Please do that if we announce that we'll be using 4.8.

For now, I've enabled this driver for the next upload of 4.9 to
experimental.
