The addition of 
 dh_strip --no-automatic-dbgsym

broke the 64bit parisc/hppa kernel build:

dh_strip --no-automatic-dbgsym

I'm currently testing this patch (not sure if this is a good patch though):
- dh_strip --no-automatic-dbgsym
+ $(CROSS_COMPILE)strip --remove-section=.comment --remove-section=.note '$(DIR)/$(IMAGE_FILE)'
