Bug#825049: linux-image-4.5.0-0.bpo.2-amd64: Random system freezes on docked thinkpad with multiple monitors via DisplayPort MST
Package: src:linux
Version: 4.5.3-2~bpo8+1
Severity: important
Dear Maintainer,
Upon upgrading from linux-image-4.3.0-0.bpo.1-amd64_4.3.5-1~bpo8+1_amd64 I have started experiencing hard freezes with the system and at other times, applications crash resulting in
broken sound and messages in the kernel log like you see below. This also happens on a clean install with the kernel directly upgraded from the latest stable version to the current
backports version (linux-image-4.5.0-0.bpo.2-amd64) and no previous sound or profile configuration.
This did not happen in linux-image-4.3.0-0.bpo.1-amd64 and may be related to audio over MST DisplayPort (given the i915_audio_component message). I'm using the analog output, but I
noticed a difference between the two kernel versions in that the older version didn't see anything about DP audio, but the newer version sees that there is nothing connected.
Upgrading to the backports version of pulseaudio didn't help.
