Dear Maintainer,
I upgraded from linux-image-4.3.0-1-amd64 (version 4.3.5-1) to linux-image-4.4.0-1-amd64.
On rebooting the system I am presented with grub, and then start booting into Linux.
I only get to see 2 lines with the cursor below them on the lefthand side.
Loading Linux 4.4.0-1 ...
Loading initial ramdisk ...
_
The system freezes at this point and is unresponsive.
I have to hold my power button down for approx 10s to power off the laptop.
Booting back into linux-4.3.0-1-amd64 works fine.
I attempted to reinstall the kernel (from a different location/network) using:
aptitude reinstall linux-image-4.4.0-1-amd64
This made no difference.
Choosing to boot the same kernel using the (recovery mode) grub option results in the same problem.
Because the boot hangs so early I can't provide any useful diagnostic information.
