Hi,

With a fresh Squeeze install on a Thinkpad X40 (237179G), I have exactly the same problem that is described there :

http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=257095

Briefly, when I resume from suspend to disk, after the HDD led blinks for some seconds, it stops and the Caps led slowly blinks (which indicate a kernel crash if I understood correctly). The screen is blank with only a blinking cursor in the upper left corner. Only a power cycle could get the laptop working again (I didn't try the SysRq keys).

Of course, just like this other user, I didn't change anything in the hardware of the laptop between hibernate and resume.

As suggested in the bugreport, adding "acpi_sleep=s4_nohwsig" in the kernel command line fixes the problem.

Unfortunately, this laptop is not mine, so if you need any more info, please hurry to ask for it, as I have to give the laptop back tomorrow afternoon.

Best regards.

Version: 3.4.1-1~experimental.1+rm

Debian 6.0 Long Term Support has now ended, and the 'linux-2.6' source
package will no longer be updated. This bug is being closed on the
assumption that it does not affect the kernel versions in newer Debian
releases.

If you can still reproduce this bug in a newer release, please reopen
the bug report and reassign it to 'src:linux' and the affected version
of the package. You can find the package version for the running
kernel by running:

    uname -v

or the versions of all installed kernel packages by running:

    dpkg -l 'linux-image-[34]*' | grep ^.i

and looking at the third column.

I apologise that we weren't able to provide a specific resolution for
this bug.

Ben.
