Others also noticed the same thing and the absolute link is an issue
e.g. in PXE and VM environments. See

I don't think it's purely cosmetic because people have issues with
the absolute links. I fail to see a reason why an absolute link
should be better, but someone might prove me wrong. And after all
this issue is more than three years old:
