This kind of problem usually happens when there is an issue at the
plug/cable level. Are you using a USB extension cord? Have you tried the
device on another USB port or on another machine? Have you tried to
connect another device on this USB port?

Your kernel seems to be the wheezy one, while you run a jessie
installation. Have you tried with the jessie kernel?

Anyway I really doubt the problem the problem is in usbutils (a set of
programs to display USB devices properties), so I am reassigning the bug
to the linux package with this mail.
