Bug#763966: end_request: critical target error
I stumbled across this when trying to backup to an encrypted USB 2.0 HDD.
The device would unlock and mount fine (mount reports rw), but any attempt
to modify or copy files to it caused an 'no space left on device' error,
while 'df -h' reported > 10GB free space.
'dd' to the raw device does not complain.
'badblocks -n /dev/sde 1048576' passes too.
An attempt to newly cryptsetup the device failed:
cryptsetup -c aes-xts-plain -y luksFormat /dev/sde

Cannot wipe header on device /dev/sde.
