Bug#783020: linux-image-3.2.0-4-amd64: umount fails when removing lvm snapshot: unhandled kernel paging request

Package: src:linux
Version: 3.2.65-1+deb7u2
Severity: normal

I use rsnapshot to make hourly backups of an lvm2 volume using cron. rsnapshot has an interface for lvm
whereby it creates an lvm snapshot and uses that to create the backup. At the start of each backup this
volume is created and mounted, then unmounted and removed at the end of the job. Occassaionally umount
fails to unmount the snapshot volume properly. The volume doesn't appear when I run the mount command,
but when rsnapshot runs lvremove, it's unable to remove the volume because apparently the filesystem is
busy (I've tried doing the same manually, but the outcome is the same).

I've run lsof to determine what's using the volume, but nothing is returned.

Once this has happened, I can no longer reboot the machine using the reboot command in the terminal. I
have to either use the magic SysRq method or go in and hold down the power button to force a shut down.

I assume this a problem with the umount code provided by the kernel, but if I'm wrong and it's an issue
with lvm or rsnapshot do let me know and I'll submit the bug there.

Thanks,

Matt
