Bug#780475: firmware-linux-nonfree: needs update concerning new firmware header format for recent radeon GPUs

Package: firmware-linux-nonfree
Version: 0.43
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream

Dear Maintainer,

Recent kernel releases, especially for recent radeon GPUs (tahiti, kaveri,
kabini, to name a few), are looking for updated firmware for said GPUs. Please
see these commits for reference:

http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/firmware/linux-
firmware.git/commit/?id=f333bd435c0b6745cbc4fae3326725d77bf57c82
http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/drivers/gpu/drm/radeon?id=de5158226d47829f85c07dd5bca59d96213e1e08
http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/drivers/gpu/drm/radeon?id=629bd33c75196ca89625148614e9e34b42f4f460
http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/drivers/gpu/drm/radeon?id=f2c6b0f452c3804496f55655fda28c2809e1a58b

The new firmware files are the lowercase named counterparts of the old existing
firmware files, updated to the new header format. Both old and new firmware
files should be present so that the kernel may choose which to load depending
upon whether it has been updated to use the new header format.

Running Linux 3.19 with version 0.43 of firmware-linux-nonfree on these
affected radeon GPUs results in incomplete hardware feature activation like UVD
and VCE, among others.
