A similar issue was reported in bug #809082, along with the upstream
fix. That is specific to PAE (and a few other unusual configurations).
It was introduced in 4.3-rc1 and is due to be fixed in 4.4-rc7.
Dan, can you check that running the -686 kernel avoids this?
