Bug#802885: XFS growing problem in Jessie
Package: linux-image-3.16.0-4-amd64
Version: 3.16.7-ckt11-1+deb8u4
Hi,
There is a bug in kernel versions from v3.7 to v3.17 which causes new XFS allocation groups added by growfs to be unavailable for inode allocation:
http://xfs.org/index.php/XFS_FAQ#Q:_Why_do_I_receive_No_space_left_on_device_after_xfs_growfs.3F
This may lead to bad things on production systems when online growing XFS won't be enough to avoid out of space situations.
We've just hit such problem on Debian 8 system with kernel linux-image-3.16.0-4-amd64 3.16.7-ckt11-1+deb8u4 (workaround with remounting worked for us).
Please verify and consider fixing in Jessie.
