Aptitude shows:
i A --\ dracut
Description: A new initramfs infrastructure

So installing the backports kernel removes initramfs-tools because it
requires dracut. Shouldn't aptitude pull in the backports version of
initramfs-tools? (I wasn't aware that there is one ....)
And why should initramfs-tools be installed when dracut is used instead?
Initramfs-tools is not installed on the VMs that run the backports kernel.

Again we must be afraid of speaking of daemons for fear that daemons
might swallow us. Finally, this fear has become reasonable.
