OK, thank you very much for clarifying. I remembered "You may experience problems" and forgot to check it first. Sorry. 

All in all the Precision M 6700 doesn't seem to be a good choice for Linux anyway. The fan is too noisy and I didn't find a cure for that yet. But I am able to return it and get a thinkpad instead.
