hi,

To write this email I'm using Suse linux 11.4 with the ndiswrapper package for a windows driver for my wireless adapter. The rest of this email refers to the latest version of Debian linux.

I've downloaded and installed the latest version of Debian linux - on a separate partition with dual-boot - and am trying to get a Debian driver for my wireless LAN adapter to work. It's based on the Marvell chipset 88w8338. Here's the output from lsusb:

Bus 001 Device 004: ID 1286:1fab Marvell Semiconductor, Inc. 88W8338 [Libertas] 802.11g

output from dmesg:

adrian@home:~> cat debian-dmesg.txt | grep "usb 1-7"
[   17.653166] usb 1-7: new high-speed USB device number 4 using ehci_hcd
[   17.855860] usb 1-7: New USB device found, idVendor=1286, idProduct=1fab
[   17.871647] usb 1-7: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0
[   17.887432] usb 1-7: Product: MARVELL Wireless Device V1.0.1.2
[   17.903208] usb 1-7: Manufacturer: MARVELL

What's missing from the package contents page:

is a reference to 8338 as a driver code.

Can this be fixed please?

thanks,

Adrian

This is a support question, not a bug report.

(It looks the answer is no, anyway.)

Ben.
