--- Begin Message ---
Package: src:linux
Version: 3.2.54-2
Severity: important
File: /lib/modules/3.2.0-4-amd64/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/iwlwifi/iwlwifi.ko

I am using a HP EliteBook Folio 9470m laptop.
When my wireless is on, if I plug in the ethernet cable, I get a message:
"iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: RF_KILL bit toggled to disable radio",
causing the wireless to stop working.

I wanted to use the wired network for internet communication and the
wireless to act as a local wifi hot spot, which fails due to the wireless
problem.

This happens even when ethernet interface (eth0) is not up.

I ran 'rfkill status', which showed:
2: hp-wifi: Wireless LAN
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: no
3: hp-bluetooth: Bluetooth
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: no
10: phy3: Wireless LAN
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: yes
14: hci0: Bluetooth
        Soft blocked: no
        Hard blocked: no

The above happens any time when ethernet wire is connected, and the 'wireless
LED'
changes color from White to Yellow, indicating inactive status.

I tried switching off the hardware switch, and then ran 'rfkill status', which
showed
'Hard Blocked: yes' for all the interfaces (as expected).
When I again pressed the wireless button (toggle switch), the above message
repeated.

However, after disconnecting the ethernet cable, I get a message:
"iwlwifi 0000:03:00.0: RF_KILL bit toggled to enable radio".

Running 'rfkill status' shows 'Hard blocked: no' for all the above wireless
devices and the
wireless works. I first thought that Change of 'Hard blocked:' from 'no' to
'yes' after insertion of ethernet cable could suggest the hardware to change
state.
However, connection of ethernet cable to any laptop cannot trip the wireless
switch.
Therefore, I believe, connection of ethernet cable makes 'iwlwifi' to switch
off the wireless
network as a software bug, and am filling a bug report for rectification.

Note that the problem repeats with newer kernel version '3.12.9-1~bpo70+1'.
