Bug#734945: linux-tools: usbip - When using USB modem via usbip, the system hangs

Package: linux-tools
Version: 3.2.17-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?
I've connected remote USB wireless modem via usbip and tried to set forwarding from LAN to PPP connection to the Internet. This works for about a seconds, then the whole system hangs.
   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?
I've tested this in a virtualbox environment, using USB CDMA modem connected to the host PC (it appears as a standard /dev/ttyACM0 device). The host system is Debian wheezy 64bit, the guest systems I've tried were Debian 32 and 64 bit wheezy, jessie and sid with the same result.
   * What was the outcome of this action?
So, when the guest system network was set with eth0 (virtual host adapter with the physical modem connected) , eth1 (internal network with another guest system as a client) and ppp0 (via the virtual USB modem) and with forwrading and masquerading connection from eth1 to the Internet via ppp0, this "router" system seems working but hangs in seconds of activity. I've checked the log files but they don't seem to have anything related to this problem.
   * What outcome did you expect instead?
I've expected that I would be able to set a router+proxy+firewall+etc system in a virtual machine using usbip to pass the modem into the virtual system avoiding direct connection of the host PC to the Internet.
