And why do you add workarounds instead of the real patch?

Mainly because it's a large patch-set (15 patches) [1, 2].

Since we don't really need a zImage now (we're using vmlinux), and both
patches (either workaround or that patchset) would achieve the effect of
removing the build error, I opted for the small workaround.

I'm ok to put the patch-set in, instead.
