Does the freeze last for only a few seconds, or is it for long enough
that you give up and reboot?

Could you try using netconsole
<https://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/networking/netconsole.txt> to
get a kernel log that covers the freeze?

I would suggest removing VirtualBox for a start.  After that, I don't
know.
