I can't reproduce the problem, even with the same Linux 3.11.
When the problem occurred, I had used my machine without the external
screen a few days before, without rebooting. So, I've tried to do
similar things (with Linux 3.11), but I still couldn't reproduce it.
BTW, Linux 3.13 (in unstable) still doesn't recognize the touchpad
(bug 622231), that's why I'm still using 3.11.
