Bug#731660: Follow-up
Hi again,
I've been investigating on it, and found what are the three steps to be done
for this:
You have to start on the new kernel version in maintenance mode after telling
your root system is /dev/sdaX when prompted to.
1. You then have to call:
/usr/sbin/update-grub
This forces grub to recognize the change in config.
2. Modify the /etc/fstab:
Change hdaN to sdaN there
And the cd-rom from hdc (usually) to sr0 (again, usually)
3. type dpkg-reconfigure linux-image-<new-version>
to force rebuilding the initramfs file with the new locations.
This would be good to tell people about this when switching from a 2.6.XX
kernel version to a linux-image-486 one when installing the package.
Or point to a html link maybe?
Now, that all the 686 are pae, I guess 686 users aren't concerned.
Best regards,
