The kernel team agreed that 'data loss' covers corruption or silent failure of disk writes or corruption of network transmissions. You must assume that memory is volatile (even UPS and batteries can fail). Auto-save is your friend.
but here you have freeze and you can only use AltrGr-Stamp-b or the power button. This can also cause file/filesystem corruption and not only you can lose the last change you have made. And not all can be auto-saved...
I think that this type of bug can make users unhappy and Debian can lose users.
