FYI: I have failing hardware and am in the process of testing Bjørn's
fix.

Bjørn had built a kernel against the latest unstable kernel sources
(3.2.39-2) so I first installed the newest unstable, using
 apt-get -t unstable install linux-image-3.2.0-4-686-pae

This kernel reproed the issue after 1 day, 12 hours, 27 minutes, when
waking it up from the sceen saver (the same situation it has failed in).

I then installed Bjørn's kernel with
 dpkg --install linux-image-3.2.0-4-686-pae_3.2.39-2a~test_i386.deb

At the time of writing I have been running this kernel for 10 hours and
40 minutes.
