There is auto-detection:

$ modinfo -F alias asus-nb-wmi
wmi:0B3CBB35-E3C2-45ED-91C2-4C5A6D195D1C

Loading the module should have no effect unless the BIOS implements this
WMI event.  But if the BIOS does implement the WMI event, that should
cause the module to be loaded automatically. 

I don't know why it isn't working, but please send the output of:
    ls /sys/devices/virtual/wmi/
    udevadm info --path=/devices/virtual/wmi/0B3CBB35-E3C2-45ED-91C2-4C5A6D195D1C
