Package: initramfs-tools Version: 0.114 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, 1. I was building new kernel-/initram-images when trying to solve scrambled/unreadable early boot messages. I tried all available compression rates in initramfs.conf. 2. I eventually discovered that there was a flaw in the mkinitramfs-script. (I compared the script with the mkinitramfs-script on my older i386-pc). In section 353-363 of the script there is a ' gzip >>' instruction and a 'compress >>' instruction. I changed that to 'gzip >' and 'compress >' , similar to the i386-script, and after that update-initramfs did its job again as expected. Greetings J. This is not a bug; see #712521. Ben. -- Ben Hutchings Beware of bugs in the above code; I have only proved it correct, not tried it. - Donald KnuthAttachment: signature.asc
