Package: linux-2.6 Version: 3.0.0-3
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

System in question is a Sylvania G netbook. It is an older model based
on a VIA CPU (C7-M, CX700/VX700 UniChrome display card).

Running 'modprobe viafb' will blank the screen and also aparantly
completely hang the system. I worked around this by putting:

  install viafb /bin/false

in a modprobe.d file.

Once this is out of the way I manage to get a display running.

I still seem to get the system hung after a while. This seems to be when
the screen is blaked-out, but I'm not really sure yet.

Hanging the display by loading viafb was also reproduced with kernel
2.6.32-5-686, which is the oldest one I have on the system.
