I suddenly experience a hung GPU around once every day or 2 while using non-3D applications, on a Lenovo W520 (that has both an integrated Intel GPU and an NVIDIA Optimus discrete GPU), running Debian Wheezy 7.0 Stable 64-bit KDE. I have Bumblebee installed to allow turning on the NVIDIA GPU when required, but the NVIDIA GPU wasn't being used at the time of any of the crashes. I have Mesa (mesa-diverted) set as my GL library. My KDE system is using KDM, KDE and KWin from Wheezy, and I have the renderer for KWin set to OpenGL renderer.

[ 39485.614] (EE) intel(0): Detected a hung GPU, disabling acceleration.
[ 39485.614] (EE) intel(0): When reporting this, please include i915_error_state from debugfs and the full dmesg.
I have attached some log files from a recent crash, it caused my KDE desktop environment to lose window decorations & taskbar, etc, but the mouse and applications were still mostly working. Unfortunately, I don't have the full dmesg output since it overflowed. I will try using Bumblebee from Wheezy backports to see if it stops the crashes of the Intel GPU. Tell me if you want more info from me.
Cheers,
Shervin Emami.
