Note that I’m affected by this bug:
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8740
and I did set
# echo -n 1 > /sys/devices/platform/i8042/serio1/resetafter

I’m not sure if I did anything special to cause this. After this, the mouse
does not work any more, and
$ modprobe -r psmouse
hangs.
