After Squeeze is installed, originally pcspkr is loaded and 'beep' does not work. However, if pcspkr is removed and snd_pcsp loaded by modprobe, 'beep' works without fault. This change compared with Lenny causes a lot of trouble concerning the use of the pc-speaker, as several files still contain a reference to pcspkr, for instance /sys/devices/platform/pcspkr, /boot/System.map-2.6.32-5-amd64, /usr/share/modconf/eval_de, /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.32-5-amd64/.config, /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.32-5-amd64/include/config/auto.conf, /usr/src/linux-headers-2.6.32-5-amd64/include/linux/autoconf.h, /lib/udev/rules.d/60-persistent-input.rules and others. So the pc-speaker cannot work normally when it shall be used by applications under Squeeze, for instance homebanking programs.
