I'm seeing lots of what appears to be packet loss in traffic from the site
http://www.cv-it.com, performance inproves if I use kernel 2.6.18.5
but improves further if I use windows XP. upgrading linux to 2.6.26 does not help
noticeably.
(upgrading XP to linux 2.6.26 helps, but not with this :)
On linux I'm using the same versions of libc and telnet binaries. (wget and
normal browsers exhibit this too, but telnet only depends on libc so it was
was chosen the comparison) As far as I can tell the only difference is the kernel.
the server at cv-it.com claims to be Microsoft-IIS/7.0
I have set up 2 vmware machines on a lenny-based host and can do experiments
and comparisons there. (the fact that host is running kernel 2.6.26 does not
seem to effect the VMs)

Hi,
your bug has been filed against the "linux-2.6" source package and was filed for
a kernel older than the recently released Debian 7.0 / Wheezy with a severity
less than important.
We don't have the ressources to reproduce the complete backlog of all older kernel
bugs, so we're closing this bug for now. If you can reproduce the bug with Debian Wheezy
or a more recent kernel from testing or unstable, please reopen the bug by sending
a mail to control@bugs.debian.org with the following three commands included in the
mail:
reopen BUGNUMBER
reassign BUGNUMBER src:linux
thanks
Cheers,
Moritz
