Feel free to reassign or split the ticket. I'll try to provide a backtrace at the end of the week if noone else can reproduce this in the meantime; debugging this issue is a pain as it requires reboots, especially since the procps test suite runs (and fails) despite 'nocheck' in DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS. A pre-built -dbg package would have been nice. I wonder what got of the Squeeze release goal "Automatic creation of debug packages for the entire archive"... -- Package-specific info: ** Version: Linux version 3.7-trunk-amd64 (debian-kernel@lists.debian.org) (gcc version 4.7.2 (Debian 4.7.2-5) ) #1 SMP Debian 3.7.3-1~experimental.1 ** Command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-3.7-trunk-amd64 root=/dev/mapper/twin_vg-wheezy--root ro rootflags=data=journal usbcore.autosuspend=1 snd_hda_intel.power_save=1 resume=/dev/mapper/dmcrypt-swap-ssd quiet ** Not tainted ** Kernel log: [ 59.628580] WARNING! power/level is deprecated; use power/control instead [ 59.631595] kvm: Nested Virtualization enabled [ 59.631599] kvm: Nested Paging enabled [ 59.647230] [drm] ib test on ring 0 succeeded in 0 usecs [ 59.648314] [drm] Radeon Display Connectors [ 59.648316] [drm] Connector 0: [ 59.648318] [drm] HDMI-A-1 [ 59.648319] [drm] HPD1 [ 59.648322] [drm] DDC: 0x6530 0x6530 0x6534 0x6534 0x6538 0x6538 0x653c 0x653c [ 59.648323] [drm] Encoders: [ 59.648325] [drm] DFP1: INTERNAL_UNIPHY2 [ 59.648326] [drm] Connector 1: [ 59.648327] [drm] VGA-1 [ 59.648329] [drm] HPD2 [ 59.648330] [drm] DDC: 0x6540 0x6540 0x6544 0x6544 0x6548 0x6548 0x654c 0x654c [ 59.648331] [drm] Encoders: [ 59.648332] [drm] CRT1: INTERNAL_UNIPHY2 [ 59.648333] [drm] CRT1: NUTMEG [ 59.648335] [drm] Connector 2: [ 59.648336] [drm] DVI-D-1 [ 59.648337] [drm] HPD3 [ 59.648339] [drm] DDC: 0x6550 0x6550 0x6554 0x6554 0x6558 0x6558 0x655c 0x655c [ 59.648340] [drm] Encoders: [ 59.648341] [drm] DFP2: INTERNAL_UNIPHY [ 59.720567] [drm] Internal thermal controller without fan control [ 59.720587] [drm] radeon: power management initialized [ 59.868268] [drm] fb mappable at 0xC114C000 [ 59.868271] [drm] vram apper at 0xC0000000 [ 59.868272] [drm] size 9437184 [ 59.868273] [drm] fb depth is 24 [ 59.868275] [drm] pitch is 8192 [ 59.868345] fbcon: radeondrmfb (fb0) is primary device [ 59.944642] Console: switching to colour frame buffer device 256x72 [ 59.949409] fb0: radeondrmfb frame buffer device [ 59.949411] drm: registered panic notifier [ 59.949416] [drm] Initialized radeon 2.24.0 20080528 for 0000:00:01.0 on minor 0 [ 59.949552] piix4_smbus 0000:00:14.0: SMBus Host Controller at 0xb00, revision 0 [ 59.950052] hda-intel: Force to non-snoop mode [ 59.950114] snd_hda_intel 0000:00:01.1: irq 55 for MSI/MSI-X [ 59.968202] input: HDA ATI HDMI HDMI/DP,pcm=3 as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:01.1/sound/card0/input6 [ 60.010924] input: HDA Digital PCBeep as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.2/input/input7 [ 60.020378] input: HD-Audio Generic Line as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.2/sound/card1/input8 [ 60.020528] input: HD-Audio Generic Front Mic as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.2/sound/card1/input9 [ 60.020660] input: HD-Audio Generic Rear Mic as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.2/sound/card1/input10 [ 60.020791] input: HD-Audio Generic Front Headphone as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.2/sound/card1/input11 [ 60.020921] input: HD-Audio Generic Line Out CLFE as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.2/sound/card1/input12 [ 60.021056] input: HD-Audio Generic Line Out Surround as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.2/sound/card1/input13 [ 60.021181] input: HD-Audio Generic Line Out Front as /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:14.2/sound/card1/input14 [ 60.298538] EXT3-fs (dm-38): warning: maximal mount count reached, running e2fsck is recommended [ 60.298663] EXT3-fs (dm-38): using internal journal [ 60.314046] powernow-k8: this CPU is not supported anymore, using acpi-cpufreq instead. Version: 3.8.5-1~experimental.1 This doesn't happen with linux-image-3.8-trunk-amd64 3.8.5-1~experimental.1 (currently available from experimental). The problematic kernel version (linux-image-3.7-trunk-amd64 3.7.3-1~experimental.1) isn't available from experimental anymore, so I'm considering this fixed. Kudos to whoever fixed it.
