Bug#693083: System freezes with graphics going down [black screen].



It seems I'm facing similar problem.

My PC hangs when on linux-image-3.2.0-4-686-pae. I've first
noticed it with version 3.2.39-2, then updated to 3.2.41-1 and then
to current 3.2.41-2 -- the problem exists with all these versions.

The system hangs after 1 to 3 hours of working (or even staying idle),
all of a sudden. Even if I leave it idle at logon screen it hangs
over time.

When it hangs the screen becomes covered with noizy artefacts, and
there is also fizzle noise in headphones.
However, if it hangs while the screen is off (powersave mode) it shows
"no signal".

I don't use any hibernate functionality, my setup is quite default one.

Hung system doesn't respond to keyboard taps (capslock, numlock
doesn't highlight) and the soft-power button gives no reaction.

I'm back on linux-image-3.2.0-3-686-pae (ver 3.2.23-1) for a while,
and everything is OK with this one.

Some info:
Intel Core i3-2125 CPU, integrated Intel graphics, driver=i915.
Detailed lshw and dmesg outputs are attached.

I've also looked through the logs in /var/logs - no sign of clue,
unfortunately.

I've had some experience using make-kpkg, so I would probably manage to
package a custom kernel. I'm going to try different kernel versions
when have some spare time.
I'm ready to carry out any tests, if you guide me on this.
