So 'crash' is almost useless in squeeze now: it requires a custom
kernel older than 3.0.

I know.  Seems like several tools have different ideas where debug
information for vmlinux should be, and we should keep them happy
by adding symlinks.  You can make this happen sooner if you send
a patch to that bug.
