Bug#699406: linux-image-3.2.0-4-amd64: HD Audio early patching ignored

Package: src:linux
Version: 3.2.35-2
Severity: normal

Due to BIOS issues, a lot of systems advertise several HDMI pins even
though physically only one is reachable. In my case, a LC2131 (SP13R)
laptop shows the following available pins:

$ aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: ALC269VB Analog [ALC269VB Analog]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 7: HDMI 1 [HDMI 1]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 8: HDMI 2 [HDMI 2]
  Subdevices: 1/1

Fortunately, there's a way to disable the unused HDMI pins using a
feature called early patching described here:

http://www.kernel.org/doc/Documentation/sound/alsa/HD-Audio.txt

In my case I did this:

I created a file containing below in /lib/firmware, such as,
/lib/firmware/ibx-hdmi:

================================================================
[codec]
0x80862804 0x80860101 3
[pincfg]
0x04 0x411111f0
0x06 0x411111f0
================================================================

Now pass this file to "patch" module option for snd-hda-intel.
For example, create a file in /etc/modprobe.d/,
e.g. /etc/modprobe.d/50-hdmi.conf, containing the line

options snd-hda-intel patch="ibx-hdmi"

Up until recently (3.2.32), my system accepted the early patching and
advertised only one (and the correct one) HDMI pin as follows:

$ aplay -l
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: ALC269VB Analog [ALC269VB Analog]
  Subdevices: 0/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 0: Intel [HDA Intel], device 3: HDMI 0 [HDMI 0]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

Sadly after a recent upgrade, this functionality seems broken. The
kernel log below shows the patch is accepted, but immediately after, it
seems to be ignored and all HDMI pins are shown..

While this is not a big issue, it's annoying and can put off new users
who don't know which HDMI pin to choose from.
