Bug#691665: [squeeze] Under CentOS 6.3 as a host OS Debian kernel hangs as a guest OS (KVM-QEMU)
Hi Jonathan,
Thanks for your reply.
I just tried to boot the original squeeze kernel (2.6.32) in recovery
mode (kernel commandline argument "single"). Single mode makes no
difference, it hangs with 6 vcpus at the same place. Here is a
screenshot where it hangs:
http://www.tssajo.com/debug/kernel-2.6.32-single.png
(I can still hit enter then the cursor moves down, but that's all.)
With just 4 vcpus it starts up fine.
I would test this issue with the latest kernel from experimental. Can
you please help me install that kernel? I'm sorry, I've never installed
anything before from the experimental repo. I've added this line already
to my apt sources file:
deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian experimental main
and did the apt-get update
When I try to install the actual kernel, I get errors, see:
# apt-get -t experimental install linux-image-3.5-trunk-amd64 linux-base
firmware-linux-free initramfs-tools
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
initramfs-tools is already the newest version.
linux-base is already the newest version.
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
linux-image-3.5-trunk-amd64 : Depends: linux-base (>= 3~) but
2.6.32-46 is to be installed
Recommends: firmware-linux-free (>= 3~)
but 2.6.32-46 is to be installed
Breaks: initramfs-tools (< 0.99~) but
0.98.8 is to be installed
E: Broken packages
How can I install the 3.5.5 kernel then?
Thanks,
Zoltan
